La Escultura

Much as I love London my interest in painting it soon cooled, despite a positive response to the two small canvases I made. My muse remains stubbornly in Latin America, and while that's the case, it's what I have to paint.

Here is my latest piece, a view from Alausí, Ecuador. It measures 48 x 12 inches, and is painted on linen canvas. [I'm afraid it's not a great photo, but if you click on the image, you should be able to get a closer look at it.]

"Escultura" means a carving or sculpture, and this picture shows how the landscape has been shaped just as much - if not more - by man and his industry, as it has been by the weather.

This is probably the last painting I will make of Ecuador, until I get a chance to go back, but I am now planning to paint several more of South America - of Colombia and Chile - so that I have enough pieces for a solo show.
