Commission!

I was recently commissioned by a lady I met to paint the portrait of a friend of hers. Never having met the guy, and with several but dissimilar photographs of him, it was difficult to know how closely what I was painting resembled him. I ended up painting two canvases the first of which is above, and the second below.

It all ended very happily this week with her buying both canvases. It marks an important milestone in my career; it's the first time I have sold any of my work to someone who isn't a close personal friend or a family member! Before long I shall have conquered the world.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the market place scene is resting again until I regain my enthusiasm for it. Until that happens I will be working on some small still-lifes.
